Congratulation to the following members that obtained their designation in 2018.
 
Russell Richman

Russell Richman, Ph.D., P.Eng. is President of RRCL. Dr. Richman completed his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto (Sustainable Buildings Group, Department of Civil Engineering) specializing in the combined fields of Building Science and Sustainable Buildings. Prior to his Ph.D., Dr. Richman worked at Yolles Partnership Inc. as an Intermediate Engineer (Building Envelope Consultant). Dr. Richman has been working and researching in the combined fields of Building Science and Sustainable Engineering for over twenty years, with expertise in building enclosures and glazing systems. Dr. Richman is currently an Associate Professor at Ryerson University, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto, and the Graduate Program Director for the Graduate Program in Building Science at Ryerson University

Jennifer Mac

With over 12 years of experience in the industry, Jennifer began her career as an Architectural Consultant specializing in technical building design for residential and commercial construction projects from design development to project completion.

Jennifer is currently a Senior Technologist for the Regional Municipality of Durham in the Projects and Contracts Facilities Division. She manages her portfolio from concept to completion by applying project management methodologies and contract administration best practice while executing asset condition assessments, building envelope remediation, and preparation of technical drawings and specifications. She is also responsible for service delivery and building systems maintenance at over 130 Region-owned properties.

Sara Damyar

Sara holds a Master's degree in Building Science and a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Science from Ryerson University, and has also obtained a LEED GA designation. Over the course of her career in the construction industry, she has developed a wealth of experience investigating, assessing, designing, coordinating and administering construction projects related to building envelope (restoration and new construction) and green building design. Her experience in building envelope consulting includes the design, investigation, evaluation, specification development preparation, material selection, contract administration, and monitoring of various types of restoration and new construction projects. With regard to sustainability consulting, Sara's experience includes developing energy audits, retro-commissioning, and energy modeling to provide green building solutions to clients as well as coordinating the "BOMA BEST" certification process.

Maryam Morakabian

Maryam Morakabian is a Project Technologist within the Building Science and Sustainability Group at Pinchin Ltd. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Architectural Engineering, and Master of Building Science from Ryerson University. In her current position, she is responsible for conducting building envelope condition assessments, construction reviews of existing and new construction, hygrothermal analysis of building envelope assemblies using WUFI Software, preparation of specifications and detailed drawings for restoration projects, and contract administration. She also holds a LEED Green Associate designation.

Kevin Lai

Kevin is currently a project manager at Homestead Land Holdings, managing the in-house building restoration projects. After obtaining a Bachelor's degree of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo, he started his career at Brown & Beattie Ltd. He assisted in construction review of a variety of building restoration projects, such as building envelope restorations, underground parking garages restorations, and window replacements. He looks forward to sharing and practising the knowledge he gained by being a member of the Ontario Building Envelope Council.

Matthew Foster

 

Peter Furnell

Peter received his Diploma in Architectural Technology at Fanshawe College, London, Ontario in 2000. Peter has over 15 years of Architectural experience in a variety of building types, including both medium and large-scale institutional, commercial, and retail projects.

Since 2006, he has been working with Petroff Partnership Architects engaged on various complex medium and large retail / commercial projects across the country.

In 2017, he completed the Building Science Certificate program at the University of Toronto and continues to grow and develop professionally in the field of building science.

Lai Him Calvin Chan

Calvin Chan is a Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Toronto in 2001. He later received a Master's Degree in Business Administration. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario with over more than 18 years of working experience in building envelope investigation and project management. He is also the President of Camberwell Engineering.

Sitara Chiu

Sitara is a graduate of Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto. She has been with Stephenson Engineering for 3 years and is currently a Project Associate with the Building Envelope Restoration team designing and overseeing repairs to existing buildings. Her experience includes the investigation, evaluation, specification development preparation, contract administration, and monitoring of various types of restoration projects. This includes masonry repairs, roof replacements, window replacements, EIFS over-cladding and curtain wall repairs. She has used her building science knowledge to address clients concerns of leakage and thermal comfort while balancing other constraints. She is a life-long learner and is always striving for improvement in herself and the environment around her.

Victor Diec

 Victor has been a member of Entuitive’s Building Envelope Services department since 2016, with past experience as a project consultant, general contractor and project coordinator. He has a wide array of project experience in a multitude of existing building and new construction projects within the institutional, residential and commercial sectors during all phases of project delivery. Victor has participated in several projects across Canada and United States while providing various services including design, condition assessments, specification development and contract administration of building enclosures, roofing and waterproofing

Michael Stock

Michael Stock is a Building Science Technologist with diverse experience including quality assurance and risk management for new construction, forensic building envelope investigation, window air leakage and water penetration field testing, property condition assessment, and design development and contract administration for restoration projects. He graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Architectural Science in 2014.

Kat Senyk

Kat Senyk is a Project Manager in Building Sciences at WSP. She is passionate about coordinating clear lines of communication between all parties throughout the design and construction process. Her background involves multidisciplinary design, sustainable design and construction, technical support, and oversight of restoration and new construction projects.

Jesse Matchett

Jesse Matchett joined Crozier & Associates in 2008 as an intern, returning as a fulltime Graduate EIT in 2010. For the past 10 years, Jesse has been a strong leader in the Civil & Structural departments, and is currently the team leader for the Building Science group at Crozier spread over its four (4) offices located in Collingwood, Milton, Toronto and Bradford. He achieved his Professional Engineering designation in 2014, his Reserve Planning designation in 2016, and has now recently achieved his Building Science Specialist Ontario designation in 2018.

At Crozier, Jesse provides structural and building science engineering expertise; overseeing retrofit projects for remedial roofing and cladding assemblies, building condition assessments, performance audits, reserve fund studies, and civil related works including internal site infrastructure and drainage issues for multiple property management clients across Ontario. Jesse’s work involves a strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, strong communication skills and relationships with Clients, Contractors and local Building Departments, bringing a strong voice for Crozier to the community.

One of Jesse’s career highlights was attaining Municipal approval for several unique residential ‘earthship’ projects, comprised of recycled earth-rammed tires and framing materials, passive heating and cooling & air tube ventilation, grey water recovery, and off-grid electricity. One of the Earthships is located in Collingwood and truly is a one-of-a-kind home and an extensive achievement for the community

Alan Cohen

In 1993, Alan graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics with a Minor in Management).  In 1996, he was granted his P.Eng. licence by the PEO, and in 2007, the PEO designated Alan as a Building Design Specialist in the categories of Complex Buildings and Building Structure.  Since 1994, Alan has devoted his career to delivering building science consulting services to building owners and operators in Southern Ontario. 

In 2007, Alan founded R and C Engineering Inc.  R & C is a consulting firm that specializes in building envelope restoration (component evaluations, design, tender, construction review, and contract administration) and capital planning (reserve fund planning, property condition assessments, and expenditure forecasting).  Alan is passionate about making the proper diagnosis of building envelope concerns, and empowering his clients to implement remediation strategies that will coincide with their short-term and long-term objectives.

Rob Quattrociocchi

Rob has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. He has been a member of the EllisDon Construction Sciences Division since 2004, elevating to the position of Manager of Building & Material Sciences in 2008. During his time there, he has worked on several high-profile ICI construction projects across Canada, as well as internationally. He leads a multi-disciplined team of specialists whose main functions are to mitigate the technical risks associated with their projects, as well as to identify and investigate emerging technologies. Rob is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Civil Engineering, and is a voting member of CSA committee S478 "Design for Durability in Buildings". He has served on the OBEC board of directors for the past two years and is very passionate about high-performance facades and enclosures.

Mohamed Hussein

Mohamed is a Civil Engineering graduate who has progressively been involved in many large-scale projects conducting structural analysis and design of steel structures. Mohamed is currently a Building Science Consultant with Morrison Hershfield's Building Specialty Services. He has gained valuable experience by working on a wide array of projects ranging from condition assessments and investigation of building envelope failures, rehabilitation and restoration design of underground parking garages, balconies, roof replacement, and other building enclosure components. In this capacity, Mohamed oversees building restoration projects, prepares full design and specifications, performs contract administration and prepares Reserve Fund Studies for residential high-rise and townhouse condominium corporations. His expertise also includes providing Building Envelope Consultation and B19 services for new construction. More recently, Mohamed has been actively involved in Litigation Support Expert Witness Services. He looks forward to being an active member of the Ontario Building Envelope Council.

Michael Fantozzi

Michael is a Building Science Technologist with Davroc & Associates Ltd. providing building envelope consultation and testing services. He is a graduate of Seneca College’s Civil Engineering Technology program.

Jose Roberto Medina Barraza

 

Yuanjing (Sharon) Wu

Sharon graduated from McMaster University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering). She is a Project Manager at WSP with five years of experience in the field of building science engineering. She has carried out numerous building investigations and restorations, building condition assessments, reserve fund studies, and Tarion warranty audits for condominium corporations, property managers, municipalities, and other clients in residential, institutional, and municipal areas. Her areas of experience include building envelope investigation, building retrofit design, building component replacement cost estimating, and project management.

Negar Pakzadianmoghaddam

Negar Pakzadian is a Building Science Designer with the Building Science and Restoration group at RJC Engineer’s Toronto Office. She holds a Master of Architecture degree, as well as a Master of Building Science degree from Ryerson University. She has extensive experience in building envelope projects ranging from condition assessment and localized repairs to cladding rehabilitation projects on multi-unit residential and commercial/institutional buildings.

Judith Martin

 

Reid Goulden

With over 13 years of experience in building assessments, Reid has developed a wealth of experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting difficulties with retrofitted building envelopes. Currently a subject matter expert and forensic assessment specialist at Peak Installations Inc., he has played an integral part in the drafting and publishing of illustrated installation standards and technical bulletins.
